
David K. Miller, P.G.
Founder/Ex Officio
David has a BS Degree in Geology from the University of Maryland and over 30 years of experience in Engineering Geology and Blasting Seismology. He is a licensed professional geologist in Florida, New York, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, and Virginia. He is also a certified ICC-Residential Building Inspector. His professional experience involves construction inspections and subsurface exploration for geotechnical engineering companies, vibration monitoring, pre blast/construction inspection of structures, evaluating structure response and damage susceptibility of buildings to construction vibrations, vibration damage claim investigation, public relations, and expert legal testimony. Other related experience includes conducting geophysical surveys and engineering evaluation of soils and rock through borings and test pits.
Jason Gootzeit
Vice President of Finance
Jason has a Masters degree in Accounting and Financial Management from University of Maryland Global Campus, and a Bachelors degree from Pennsylvania State University. Jason also has an active CPA license. He began his career working in tax preparation and financial statement audits. He then went on to work as the Director of Finance for government contractor in the defense aviation field, and most recently was the Controller of an advertising agency in the greater Washington DC area before joining Argus and SSI.
Patrick T. Hastings, Jr., P.G.
President
Mr. Hastings has over 20 years of experience in the field of Geophysics and Construction Management. He holds an undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan and a graduate degree from the University of Minnesota. Since joining SSI he has worked on multiple projects specializing in vibration monitoring and pre-construction surveys. Mr. Hastings has received formal training in conducting pre-condition surveys and seismic monitoring through SSI’s in-house training program and is a certified pre-blast surveyor in West Virginia. Mr. Hastings is a certified ICC – Residential Building Inspector. His professional experience includes vibration monitoring of construction activity and blasting, analysis of seismograph data, pre-blast/construction inspection of structures, and public relations.
Eric B. Rehwoldt, P.E., P.G.
Vice President of Engineering
Mr. Rehwoldt is a licensed Professional Engineer in 12 states and a registered Professional Geologist. He has over 30 years of professional engineering experience. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Geology from the University of California, Los Angeles in 1985 and his Master of Science in Geological Engineering from the University of Nevada at Reno in 1989. Eric’s geotechnical, geological, geostructural, geophysical, seismic ground response, and geo-environmental project engineering experience spans the East and West coasts of the United States, and more than 50 countries. His technical specialties include structural condition inspections, foundation design and construction, rock slope engineering, karst studies, geotechnical earthquake engineering, and slope stability analysis and stabilization. Mr. Rehwoldt is in responsible charge of engineering services for Seismic Surveys, LLC
W. Clifford Miller, II
Area Manager - Florida
Cliff is SSI’s Florida Area Manager and is based in our Brevard County, Florida office. He has specialized experience and training in the implementation of vibration monitoring programs on blasting, construction, and demolition projects. He has received formal training in conducting pre-construction structure surveys, seismic monitoring, and crack monitoring through SSI’s in-house training program. He has received his OSHA Construction Safety and Health training certificate and is a member of the International Society of Explosives Engineers. He has over three years of experience in vibration monitoring, analysis of seismograph data, airblast studies, installation and use of Automated Motorized Total Stations (AMTS) for settlement monitoring, and crack gauge installation and monitoring. Cliff is a licensed UAS Remote Pilot (Certificate No. 4106105) through the FAA.
Brynn Harris, C.P.G.
Senior Geologist
Ms. Harris has a BS degree in Geology from Radford University. She has received formal training in conducting pre-condition surveys, seismic monitoring, and crack monitoring through Seismic Surveys, LLC’s in-house training program. Ms. Harris has her OSHA 10-hour Construction Safety and Health training certificate. Her professional experience includes 10 years of experience in vibration monitoring of construction activity, blasting, analysis of seismograph data, attenuation studies, pre-blast/construction inspection of structures, crack gauge installation and monitoring, and public relations.
TJ Deane, P.E., P.G.
Senior Geologist
Mr. Deane has a M.S. in Geoscience from Pennsylvania State University and B.S. in Geology from the University of Maryland. He is a licensed professional geologist in states of New York and Virginia. His specialized professional experience includes conducting pre-condition surveys, vibration monitoring, sound monitoring, and movement monitoring using a variety of geotechnical tools and methods for government and private sector clients. Prior to joining SSI, he helped manage environmental remediation projects and oversaw the collection, interpretation, and distribution of physical and chemical data collected from environmental media. Mr. Deane has received formal training in pre- and post-construction condition surveys, and vibration monitoring and seismograph operations. Among other trainings, he holds certifications for OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER, OSHA 8-Hour HAZWOPER Supervisor, OSHA 10-Hour Construction Safety, OSHA Fall Protection, OSHA Confined Space Operations, MSHA Quarry Training, and is a FAA Certified Remote Pilot Operator.
Benjamin Spindler, C.P.G

Paul Ponton, III
Instrumentation Manager
While earning his Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Science at Towson University, Mr. Ponton interned with the Baltimore County Department of Environmental Protection and Sustainability, assisting in the restorative health and monitoring efforts of the counties’ municipal waterways. Shortly after graduation, he was contracted by the Maryland Department of Natural Resources to spearhead the mitigation strategy against the introduction of invasive species within Deep Creek Lake, MD. Before coming to SSI, Mr. Ponton became a respected veteran of the solar industry working with the largest firms in the United States. Paul is currently SSI’s Instrumentation Manager and is responsible for managing the inventory, service, maintenance, and deployment of over 200 engineering seismographs and other geotechnical and structural instrumentation nationwide. Since joining SSI, Mr. Ponton has recieved formal training in seismograph operation and ICC residential building inspection. In addition, he has received his OSHA Construction Safety and Health training certificate.
Jeffrey Small
Instrumentation Technician
Mr. Small has received formal training in conducting pre-condition surveys, seismic monitoring, and slope monitoring through Seismic Surveys, LLC in-house training program. Mr. Small has received his OSHA Construction Safety and Health training certificate; Mr. Small is a member of the International Society of Explosives Engineers. His professional experience includes vibration monitoring of construction activity, blasting, analysis of seismograph data, airblast studies, slope monitoring, crack gauge installation and monitoring, and public relations.
Andrew Pak
Instrumentation Specialist
Mr. Pak earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Geography and Environmental Science at the University of Maryland Baltimore County. After graduation, he gained additional knowledge in IT and GIS (Geographical Information Systems). Prior to SSI, he freelanced for some software companies in MD and aided with GIS mapping projects at several schools in the state. These experiences have given Mr. Pak a unique combination of computer knowledge and environmental background that has helped SSI expand into other forms of environmental monitoring.
Kendall Dean
Assistant Controller
Kendall received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Administration and Economics from McDaniel College. She is SSI’s Assistant Business Administrator and is responsible for assisting with the operational, organizational, and managerial responsibilities of the company. She has also received her Professional Administrative Certification of Excellence (PACE).
Ashley Kight
Technical Administrator
Mrs. Kight earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Mining and Minerals Engineering and minored in Geology at Virginia Tech. While earning her degree she interned at the Naval Surface Warfare Center in Indian Head Maryland in the Research, Development, Test and Evaluation Department assisting in research for high-energy material applications. After graduation Mrs. Kight joined SSI’s team as a Staff Scientist and received formal training in conducting pre-condition surveys and seismic monitoring through SSI’s in-house training program. Mrs. Kight is now SSI’s Technical Administrator and Proposal Coordinator. Her professional experience includes vibration monitoring of construction activity and blasting, analysis of seismograph data, pre-blast/construction inspection of structures, and public relations.
Casey McNamee
Staff Geologist
Ms. McNamee is a graduate of Frostburg State University, where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Earth Science and Geography. She has a background in environmental science and primary outdoor education. She has also received her 30-Hour OSHA Construction Safety and Health training certificate. Since joining SSI, Ms. McNamee has received formal training in conducting pre- and post-construction condition surveys and seismic monitoring through Seismic Surveys, LLC in-house training program. Her professional experience includes vibration monitoring of construction and blasting activity, conducting pre- and post-construction condition surveys, public and client relations.
Alexandra Ferrigno
Technical Writer/Editor
Alexandra received her Bachelor of Science in English from Towson University, where she focused on journalism, coding, and writing for grants, RFPs, science, and business. She was inducted into Phi Sigma Pi Honor Fraternity, holding multiple leadership roles throughout her membership. Alexandra has interned at several nonprofits, including Best Buddies Maryland as an RFP writer and Borgen Project as a journalist. Her role as Technical Writer/Editor at Seismic Surveys primarily includes editing and creating technical documents, along with supporting the Florida team. Alexandra earned her OSHA 10-Hour Construction Safety training certificate, along with pre- and post-survey training through SSI.
Trevor Brown
Staff Scientist
Mr. Brown has a Bachelor of Science in Earth Science from Salisbury University. Mr. Brown has received formal training in conducting pre-condition surveys and seismic monitoring through Seismic Surveys, LLC in-house training program. He has received his OSHA 30-hour Safety and Health Certificate, is MARTCP certified in Soil & Aggregate Compaction, and has been certified in the operation of nuclear density gauges and HAZMAT transport. Before joining Seismic Surveys, Mr. Brown gained professional experience in the fields of geotechnical engineering, construction, and disaster relief.
